pearl

pearls form when an irritant enters the soft, inner body of an oyster. the oyster calcifies a part of itself in order to protect the whole from harm.
we, like the oyster, suppress parts of ourselves, keeping them buried deep inside of us, never to be exposed to the outside world. the work takes place at the bottom of this memory-ocean, holding one of these pearls.
